o         A  celebration of nature in the spectacular setting of the Nature Conservancy's Thousand Springs Preserve. Arts and crafts, food, fine art auction, huge raffle prizes, live music, antique dairy barn tours, hiking, meals, free horse and wagon rides.

·          Idaho Spud Day, Shelley  -  Third Saturday in Sept.

o         Annual Idaho Spud Day is a country-style gala celebration of the Idaho potato offering fun for visitors of all ages. Events include a parade, music, demolition derby, free baked potato lunch at noon, Dutch oven cook-off, World championship potato picking, and Spud Tug.

o         Artists display and sell their works, including paintings, glass, pottery, jewelry, etc. Food and entertainment are available both days. A free hands-on Children's Art Yard is a special feature. Young and old alike can learn tie dying, block painting, pottery throwing, mural painting, etc.

·          A Taste of the Harvest, Caldwell  -  10/7/2006 - 10/7/2006

o         Cornucopia of Idaho's home-grown offerings - wine, cheese, bread and live music - will be available for the public to savor during the annual "A Taste of the Harvest" festival at Albertson College of Idaho. The event, which is open to people of all ages, is a celebration of Idaho's fall harvest - including specialty foods, wine samples and educational materials about Idaho agriculture. Runs from 2-7pm.

·          Sumpter Valley Railroad Fall Foliage Photo Tour, Sumpter  -  10.14.2006

o         For over thirty years the Sumpter Valley Railroad Restoration Inc. has been dedicated to rebuilding this remnant of the past for the enjoyment of future generations. Since the first excursion train pulled out of McEwen station in 1976, an almost all volunteer staff has rebuilt over five miles of rail line, fully restored two original steam locomotives, refurbished numerous pieces of rolling stock, and constructed all the facilities it takes to run a railroad. While traveling through the forests and gold dredge tailings of the Sumpter Valley, visitors are given a glimpse back in time without having to leave the comfort of the present. Operating between McEwen and the historic mining town of Sumpter, the steam-powered excursions of the Sumpter Valley Railroad offer an enjoyable way for the whole family to spend a day.
